I’m overdue to share some news, “hot off the press here.” At the moment we have five residents, three of whom have full-time employment. Another is completing exams this week at a local school and the other is beginning the job search. We have two potential residents, and we await a call from their guardian as they are 16 and 17. We had a great Board Meeting this past Monday, followed by a cook-out on the back deck.
On June 12, a former resident stopped by with his mother, having taken her out to lunch. J.was with us 5/16/14 till 1/22/15. He’s another success story, despite a few struggles after heleft us. He worked for some in landscaping. Now he is working in the “tech” field. His attitudeis amazing and his relationship with mom and stepfather is good. He even left us with a verykind donation, as his job is successful and he said to me, “Take the guys out to lunch orsomething on me.” Still another hallmark is that J has been clean & sober for almost two years. As the 12 Step folks often say: “It works if you work it.” Amen.We are most grateful to a fine group of students from Canisius High School Campus Ministry. They recently completed a very professional video for us to use for public relations andoutreach. They came to the Center to film all of the property and houses, followed by filmingmy narration.
We are most grateful to Ron Ahrens at Canisius H.S. Campus Ministry and to Nick& Matt Taboni, the twin students who did the bullwork of the project. Imagine Jesuits andFranciscans working together…..smile it’s a long story!Till next time, have a great summer.
Peace and all good!
